Iron Bungalow 69 Von Brandis Street Turffontein

This corrugated iron and wood house was constructed in 1904 for W. Copeland. It is a rare surviving example of these prefabricated homes that were scattered across Johannesburg, built mainly for working class families. Easy to construct and dismantle, they were sometimes carried by horse-drawn cart to their next location. Often a skin of brick was later added on the exterior, so disguising the original structure.
