ROOTED studio architecture aims to locate itself within the natural, historical and cultural context of each unique project. Kylie Dickson, the principle of the practice, has been involved in many significant heritage projects (civic, institutional and residential) around the country and on varying scales. These projects include the Red Location Library & Archive and Art Museum (NoeroWolff Architects), St Cyprians School Library, IT Pod and Sports Hall (NoeroWolff Architects), Shandukani Maternity Clinic at the Hillbrow Health Precinct (Henry Paine + Partners), Sunnyside Womens’ Residence Extension at Wits University (Henry Paine + Partners), Senate Hall at Wits University (Henry Paine + Partners), Savernake Refurbishment at Wits University (Henry Paine + Partners), Restoration of School Hall at Holy Family College (Henry Paine + Partners), Pallinghurst Stables Alterations & Additions, St Albans School Hall – adaptive reuse of old cow shed, Avalon Springs – redevelopment of historic hot springs landscape and buildings. In addition to architectural practice, Kylie has also lectured part-time at both Wits and UJ and assists with external examining at the University of Pretoria.
